Frequently Asked Questions

Great Eastern: Plans, Claims & Verifying Your Adviser

This page covers questions specific to Great Eastern Financial Advisers and Alicia's role as a representative — separate from the general estate planning questions covered in the main FAQ.

Verifying Alicia & Great Eastern

How do I verify that Alicia Teh is a genuine, licensed representative?

Use MAS's public Register of Representatives and search by name or representative number. Alicia's Rep No. is TSC300919639, and her current principal is Great Eastern Financial Advisers Pte Ltd. You can also check the firm itself on the MAS Financial Institutions Directory.

What should I do if someone claiming to be from Great Eastern contacts me unexpectedly?

Verify their identity independently before sharing any personal or financial information — through Great Eastern's official contact channels, or the MAS Register of Representatives above. Great Eastern has issued security advisories about impersonation scams, and government agencies or genuine representatives will never ask you to transfer money over the phone. If in doubt, call the ScamShield Helpline at 1799.

What's the difference between a tied representative and an independent adviser?

A tied representative, like Alicia, is appointed by a specific financial adviser or insurer and primarily advises on that company's products (and any products it has a distribution agreement for). An independent adviser has no such commercial ties. Neither structure is inherently better — what matters is transparency about which one you're working with. See MoneySense's guide to the different types of financial advice relationships.

Great Eastern's Legacy & Protection Plans

What is the Great Legacy Programme?

It's Great Eastern's broader initiative encouraging customers to plan ahead — covering making a Will, considering a Lasting Power of Attorney, and reviewing your financial plan and insurance coverage with a representative to identify any protection gaps. Read more on the Great Legacy Programme page.

How does insurance fit into legacy planning?

Life insurance can provide a lump sum to your beneficiaries quickly, independent of the probate process — which can be useful for covering estate costs, providing immediate liquidity to a spouse or dependants, or equalising an inheritance between children (for example, one who inherits a family business and one who doesn't). This works alongside, not instead of, a proper Will and nomination structure.

Where can I see Great Eastern's full range of legacy and protection products?

The current range is listed on Great Eastern's life insurance product page. Product terms, illustrations and suitability vary by individual circumstances — Alicia can walk through what's actually relevant to your situation rather than a generic product list.

Policy Protection & Claims

Is my Great Eastern policy protected if something happens to the company?

Eligible policies are automatically covered under the Policy Owners' Protection Scheme, administered by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation (SDIC), up to scheme limits. No action is required from policyholders for this coverage to apply. Details are available from the Life Insurance Association (LIA) or SDIC directly.

Who do I contact to make a claim?

Claims are handled through Great Eastern directly, and Alicia, as your representative, can guide you through the process and required documentation. For general claims information, Great Eastern's official site is the authoritative source — always go through official channels rather than any third party.
